What happens when the global DBT community comes together for 24 continuous hours? Drs. Alec Miller and Michaela Swales will co-host the World 24-Hour Virtual DBT Summit—a unique online DBT conference bringing clinicians, researchers, trainees, consumers, and families together from around the world. Internationally recognized clinicians and researchers will present on the latest developments in DBT, and participants will connect with colleagues across time zones and geographic boundaries. Dr. Miller will also co-present with Dr. Jill Rathus on their inclusion of caregivers in their DBT-A model.
Starting at 1:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, October 28th and continuing for 24 hours through 1:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, October 29th, the summit will offer an exciting and diverse program of learning, connection, and collaboration. Participants can join throughout the 24-hour period to explore programming that includes:
20 clinical workshops featuring DBT clinicians and experts from around the world
The latest DBT research and developments in the field
Deep-dive interviews and conversations with leading DBT experts
Mindfulness opportunities throughout the event
Networking and breakout sessions to connect with members of the international DBT community
Dedicated opportunities and programming for consumers and families
A diverse range of perspectives from DBT professionals around the globe
The continuous format is designed to make the summit accessible to the global DBT community, allowing participants to engage with the event during hours that are convenient for their part of the world. More than simply a conference, the DBT-a-thon is an opportunity to experience the field of DBT as a truly international community—learning from one another, sharing ideas, and connecting across geographic boundaries.
Before the summit, Dr. Miller joined Dr. Michaela Swales for a podcast hosted by Dr. Charlie Swenson to discuss the vision behind this innovative event. Their conversation explores why a 24-hour global summit was created, how the format allows people across different time zones to participate, and what attendees can expect from this unique gathering.
The summit is designed to be as accessible as possible. Registration is $150 for licensed clinicians and $50 for trainees, with opportunities for participants to pay what they can afford. Registration fees serve as donations to the World DBT Association (WDBTA), supporting efforts to make DBT education and training accessible to people around the world who may not otherwise be able to afford similar opportunities.
