Janina Gunderson, LMSW

Staff Social Worker

Janina Gunderson, LMSW, is a staff social worker at CBC where she conducts individual, family, and group therapy with adolescents, adults, and families. Janina earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Labor relations from Cornell University and earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University. Janina has been intensively trained in both Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

While completing her Master’s degree at Columbia University, Janina was accepted into the Dialectical Behavior Therapy Intensive Training Program, the first and only DBT training program of its kind offered in a school of social work to date. This program provided Janina with intensive training in DBT and allowed her the opportunity to implement DBT while interning at Brooklyn Heights Behavioral Associates and the Counseling Center Group. At both practices, Janina led and co-led DBT skills groups and provided individual comprehensive DBT to adults. She also provided CBT to teen clients presenting with anxiety and related disorders.

After graduating from Columbia, Janina spent one year working at the DBT Center of Greater Washington in Rockville, MD where she led and co-led DBT groups and provided individual comprehensive DBT to teen and adult clients presenting with a wide range of psychopathology.
