Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Angel DeCapua (she/her) is a full-time licensed psychologist at CBC, where she provides individual, family, and group psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults presenting with a range of clinical concerns. Angel earned her Master’s Degree (PsyM) and Doctoral Degree (PsyD) in School Psychology from Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Mathematics at Providence College. Angel is also a New Jersey Certified School Psychologist.


Angel is intensively trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and has extensive training in evidence-based treatments for anxiety, mood, and behavioral disorders. She has experience working with individuals across the lifespan presenting with anxiety and mood disorders, OCD, ADHD, emotion and behavioral dysregulation, suicidality, and self-injury. Angel also has expertise working with parents/caregivers of children, adolescents, and young adults struggling with emotional and behavioral difficulties.

Prior to completing her post-doctoral fellowship at CBC, Angel completed her APA-accredited predoctoral internship at Center for Anxiety, where she provided individual and group psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults in traditional outpatient models, as well as intensive outpatient programs. Throughout her doctoral education, she also completed clinical training in hospital outpatient clinics, community-based mental health settings, and schools. As a clinical extern at NYU Langone Health’s Child Study Center, Angel provided evidence-based treatment to children and adolescents with a range of clinical concerns, including individual and group DBT through the Comprehensive Adolescent DBT Program. She also participated in a clinical externship at the Highland Park Community Teen Center, a school-based mental health clinic, where she provided individual and group therapy to children and adolescents. As a certified school psychologist, Angel has also received training in a high school setting delivering Individualized Education Program (IEP)-mandated individual and group counseling, conducting psychoeducational evaluations, consulting with parents and teachers, and monitoring students' IEPs. Angel also has intensive training in both diagnostic assessments and psychoeducational evaluations.

Angel’s clinical approach emphasizes evidence-based treatment tailored to each individual and family. Her research interests center on increasing access to evidence-based mental health treatment for youth and families. Her doctoral dissertation examined parent and caregiver experiences with their child’s school-based mental health therapy, including caregiver involvement and barriers to caregiver participation in treatment. Angel is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
