CBC Trauma training teaches CBT approaches for treating trauma and PTSD symptoms, including Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT for children and adolescents.

These treatments are considered the “gold standard” for PTSD as recommended by the National Center for PTSD, the American Psychological Association (APA), and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS).

This training will provide an understanding of PTSD symptoms and its assessment, a CBT framework for the conceptualization of difficulties arising post-trauma, risk factors for who is more likely to have post-traumatic reactions, a description and experiential learning of various cognitive and behavioral treatment strategies used with trauma survivors, and an understanding of how these interventions are adapted for specialized populations such as children, individuals with complex trauma, and with high emotion dysregulation difficulties.

An emphasis will be placed on CBT case formulation-based treatment planning through an understanding of the mechanisms of action shown to elicit meaningful changes in this population.

Mental health professionals and students who are interested in pursuing specialized training to deepen their understanding of CBT approaches for treating trauma and PTSD symptoms, primarily Prolonged Exposure (PE), will benefit from this virtual training. Some foundational CBT experience is recommended. Participants will receive eighteen (18) Continuing Education Credit Hours for NY Social Works and all Psychologists which can be used towards the required hours of training necessary to apply to become a Certified Diplomate through the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (A-CBT). CBC also offers other CE credits throughout the year.
