Sophia Miller, LMSW, is a staff social worker at CBC where she conducts individual, family, and group therapy with children, adolescents, and adults. Sophia earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Spanish from Stanford University and her Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University. Sophia is intensively trained in both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Sophia began her career as the intake and research coordinator for the Child HELP Partnership. There, she connected children and their families to evidence-based trauma therapy and conducted research on implementing and disseminating therapeutic interventions for childhood trauma nationwide.
While completing her Master’s degree at Columbia University, Sophia was accepted into the Dialectical Behavior Therapy Intensive Training Program, the first and only DBT training program of its kind offered in a school of social work. This program provided Sophia with intensive training in DBT and allowed her the opportunity to implement adherent DBT while interning at the Manhattan Alternative Wellness Collective and the Counseling Center Group. During her internship year, Sophia led and co-led DBT groups and provided comprehensive DBT to adolescent and adult clients. She also provided CBT to adults diagnosed with mood and anxiety disorders.
After graduating from Columbia, Sophia spent one year working at the DBT Center of Greater Washington in Rockville, MD where she led and co-led DBT groups and provided comprehensive DBT to adolescent and adult clients presenting with a wide range of psychopathology.
