Samantha Herlands, MS

Psychology Extern

Samantha Herlands is a psychology extern at CBC, where she conducts individual, family, and group therapy with children, adolescents, and adults. She earned her M.S. in School Psychology from St. John’s University, where she is currently a fourth-year doctoral student. She previously earned her B.A. in Psychology from Binghamton University.

Samantha has received intensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Prior to her clinical externship at CBC, Samantha was a student therapist at the St John’s Center for Psychological Services, providing weekly individual therapy using principles of CBT and conducting psychoeducational evaluations for children, teens, and adults. In addition, Samantha has been a clinical volunteer in CBC’s Voices Rising Program, where she learned Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Selective Mutism (PCIT-SM) and facilitated group treatment sessions for children with Selective Mutism.

Additionally, Samantha has worked as a school psychology extern at Bedford Road School in Pleasantville, NY, where she delivered individual and group counseling, conducted psychoeducational evaluations, and engaged in consultation with both parents and teachers.

Samantha is committed to delivering evidence-based treatment with empathy and care, tailoring treatment to each person’s unique strengths and goals. Currently, Samantha is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), National Association of School Psychology (NASP), and Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT).
