Miriam Smith, MS

Psychology Intern

Miriam Smith is a psychology intern at CBC, providing individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. She earned her M.S. in Applied Psychology from Long Island University (LIU), Post Campus, where she is currently a fifth-year doctoral student. Miriam earned a B.A. from Concordia University, where she graduated with Specialization in Psychology.


Miriam has received intensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Miriam has extensive experience providing evidence-based interventions in treating children, adolescents, young adults, and adults with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, personality disorders, schizoaffective disorder, mood disorders, emotion regulation, and life stressors. Prior to starting her internship at CBC, Miriam externed at Northwell Health’s Zucker Hillside Hospital in the Behavioral Health College Partnership, where she conducted individual and group psychotherapy with high-risk young adults in outpatient and inpatient settings. Miriam has also worked as a therapist at the Center for Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy and at LIU Post’s Psychological Service Center, providing psychotherapy and evaluation services.


Driven by empathy and a deep commitment to her clients’ well-being, Miriam helps individuals identify and reach their personal goals in a supportive and collaborative environment. Miriam’s doctoral research analyzes therapists’ use of self-disclosure and therapeutic alliance. Miriam is a student member of the American Psychological Association (APA).
