Joanna Kramer

Psychology Extern

Joanna Kramer is a psychology extern at CBC, where she conducts individual, family, and group psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and adults. She is currently a third-year doctoral student in the clinical psychology program at Fordham University. She previously earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminology/Criminal Justice Studies from the University of Maryland.


Joanna has received intensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Prior to her clinical externship at CBC, Joanna was an extern at BronxCare Hospital, where she conducted neuropsychological and psychodiagnostic assessments for children, adolescents, and adults residing on the inpatient unit. As part of this externship, she also co-facilitated an outpatient DBT skills group. Joanna has also been trained in a trauma-informed intervention that uses a combination of education, skills training, and supportive counseling to help people understand how to effectively cope with stress (Trauma Affect Regulation: Guide for Education and Therapy; TARGET) and delivered this service to parents in the New York City area through the Fordham Community Mental Health Clinic.


Joanna’s research is focused on the assessment and treatment of adolescents with juvenile justice system involvement, particularly adolescents who have been exposed to trauma. Joanna is a member of the American Psychology-Law Society (APLS) and the International Association of Forensic Mental Health Services (IAFMHS).
