Institute For Professionals
Psychology Post-Doc Fellowship Program
The CBC Institute of Professionals is proud to offer a One-Year Post-Doctoral Fellowship, with a option for year 2, working in conjunction with the CBC Clinical and Wellness Center.
CBC was founded in 2004 by Drs. Lata McGinn and Alec Miller, both of whom are internationally recognized experts in their respective fields of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and has grown into a large, select group of highly skilled clinicians, educators and researchers who specialize in CBT and DBT. We provide comprehensive treatment for a variety of disorders, and treat children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. This includes a growing PCIT program with consultation from renowned experts in this specialty. We also offer a specialized trauma program that offers evidence-based trauma therapies to survivors throughout the lifespan. We have a collegial and intellectually stimulating environment and offer an outstanding opportunity to receive comprehensive training and supervision in CBT and DBT.
Post-doctoral fellows will conduct individual, family and group therapies, and co-lead one or more CBT groups and/or DBT skills training groups with highly trained therapists/supervisors. Fellows receive several hours of individual and group supervision per week coupled with participation in a weekly DBT therapist consultation team and didactic seminars on CBT and DBT. This comprehensive training experience also includes monthly CBT consultation team, disorder-specific case conferences, and a lecture series in which nationally and internationally renowned speakers are invited from the CBT and DBT communities. Fellows also supervise pre-doctoral psychology students, and receive supervision and training in this area. Post-doctoral fellows participate in core rotations in outpatient CBT and DBT with children, adolescents and adults with options for electives in the following areas:
- School consultation (CBT and DBT)
- Research and publishing
- Web-based outcomes monitoring and training
- Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
- Trauma Treatment Program
- Training toward Academy of Cognitive Therapy certification (year 2)
- Training toward DBT Certification by DBT-LBC (year 2)
In addition, post-doctoral fellows will be eligible to apply for an optional 2nd year of supervision and training as a licensed psychologist. This role will entail the following (in addition to direct clinical service):
- Supervising pre-doctoral psychology student
- Further developing areas of specialization and interest (e.g., starting specialized groups, giving talks in the community, co-authoring manuscripts, school consultation)
- Optional training towards DBT Certification by DBT-LBC
- Optional training towards Academy of Cognitive Therapy certification (for which CBC would cover the application costs).
This addition to our post-doctoral program reflects both the expansion of our practice, and our dedication to providing comprehensive training that prepares psychologists for multiple career opportunities in the field.
This is an outstanding opportunity to join our cohesive team of clinicians who are dedicated to clinical training and to providing evidence-based services. This is a yearly program that begins at the end of August.
