Who Is This Workshop For?

This virtual 4-day workshop is for mental health professionals and trainees interested in pursuing specialized training to deepen their understanding of CBT approaches for treating trauma and PTSD symptoms, primarily Prolonged Exposure (PE). PE is considered a “gold standard” treatment for PTSD as recommended by the National Center for PTSD, the American Psychological Association (APA), and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS). Participants will receive sixteen (16) Continuing Education Credit Hours for NY Social Workers and all Psychologists and the required hours of training in CBT necessary to apply to become a Certified Diplomate through the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (A-CBT).

When Is This Virtual Workshop?

This virtual workshop will take place on January 10, 11, 15 and 16, 2024 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. (EST) with scheduled breaks.

What Will I Learn In This Workshop?

  • A thorough understanding of trauma and PTSD assessment
  • Discussion of risk factors for who is more likely to experience post-traumatic
  • Common reactions and adapting treatment for the current climate
  • An introduction to the evidence-based treatments for PTSD and the various cognitive and behavioral treatment strategies used within them
  • An understanding of the Emotional Processing Theory and how this conceptualization guides Prolonged Exposure Therapy
  • In-depth understanding of the techniques specific to PE, including in vivo exposure, imaginal exposure, and cognitive processing
  • There will be plenty of opportunities for experiential learning, video demonstrations as well as live demonstrations.
