Receive specialized training to deepen your understanding of CBT approaches for treating trauma and PTSD symptoms from CBC Co-Founder and world-renowned master clinician and trainer Dr. Lata K. McGinn, and other master CBC clinicians.

Participate in this workshop in the comfort of your own home using CBC’s state-of-the-art virtual program.

Who Is This Workshop For?

This virtual 4-day workshop is for mental health professionals and trainees interested in pursuing specialized training to deepen their understanding of CBT approaches for treating trauma and PTSD symptoms, primarily Prolonged Exposure (PE). PE is considered a “gold standard” treatment for PTSD as recommended by the National Center for PTSD, the American Psychological Association (APA), and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS). Participants will receive eighteen (18) Continuing Education Credit Hours for NY Social Workers and all Psychologists and the required hours of training in CBT necessary to apply to become a Certified Diplomate through the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (A-CBT).

When Is This Virtual Workshop?

This virtual workshop will take place on January 8, 9, 13 & 14, 2025 from 9:30 am - 2:00 pm (EST) with scheduled breaks.

What Will I Learn In This Workshop?

  • Assess PTSD and trauma symptoms
  • Distinguish between PTSD and typical reactions to trauma
  • List risk factors for who is more likely to experience PTSD
  • Describe common reactions, building resilience and adapting treatment for different conditions
  • Provide psychoeducation for people who have PTSD
  • Explain what psychological first aid is used for
  • Explain the evidence-based treatments for PTSD
  • Explain various cognitive, physiological and behavioral models and treatment strategies used within evidence-based treatments for PTSD
  • Explain the Emotional Processing Theory
  • Explain how Emotional Processing Theory guides Prolonged Exposure Therapy
  • Provide rationale for Prolonged Exposure Therapy
  • Introduce Prolonged Exposure Therapy
  • Identify barriers that could prevent effectively treating PTSD using evidence-based treatments such as under engagement and over engagement.
  • Utilize and explain in-vivo exposure
  • Utilize and explain imaginal exposure
  • Utilize and explain cognitive processing
