Exposure Group (Fall 2023)

Tuesdays starting 10/17

5:00pm - 6:15pm

  Intake Team | 914-385-1150, option 1 | intake@cbc-psychology.com

The Exposure Group at CBC provides teens (aged 12-18) with in-person, exposure-based practice to confront their anxiety and overcome avoidance behaviors to meet life goals. During each weekly session, group leaders review a core CBT skill and then devote time to exposure practice. In addition to being an exposure unto itself, the group setting provides ample opportunity for exposure practice, and offers support as teens learn they are not alone in their anxiety.

About Exposures and Disorders Treated

Individuals who struggle with anxiety often avoid environments, situations and even thoughts that are likely to trigger their anxious feelings. Exposures are the skillful and incremental actions taken to face these anxieties in place of avoidance (e.g., talking to new people, tolerating imperfection, facing fears like separation or uncertainty). This group is appropriate for the following mental health disorders: Social Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Separation Anxiety Disorder, Phobias, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and perfectionism.

  • When: Tuesdays 5 - 6:15 p.m. Meets weekly for 10 weeks, starting Oct. 17

  • Where: In person at our White Plains location

Each group session will involve a check in, a homework review, teaching of CBT concepts, and exposures. The group leaders will work with you and your child to develop their exposure hierarchy. Participants may be in concurrent individual therapy, or the group may be the sole intervention.

Registration will close once the group is full, and spots are limited! Please contact our intake team at 914-385-1150, option 1 or email intake@cbc-psychology.com to schedule a screening appointment.
