Learn the foundations of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) from CBC co-founder and world-renowned master clinician and trainer Dr. Lata K. McGinn.

Who is this workshop for?

This five-day workshop is for Mental Health Professionals and Students interested in building and deepening their skills in CBT. The CBT Comprehensive provides intensive training in CBT strategies to treat clients across the lifespan. Participants will learn and practice foundational and advanced CBT strategies to treat a wide range of psychological conditions and problems, including trauma, stress, worry and general anxiety, panic, agoraphobia, social anxiety, depression, OCD, externalizing conditions and relationship problems. This summer’s workshop will also provide tools to navigate pandemic-related mental health problems and balance virtual and in-person therapy in a post-COVID world. Participants will receive 35 Continuing Education credit hours (35 CE credits) for New York social workers and all psychologists. This course will also provide required hours of training in CBT necessary to apply to become a certified diplomate through the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (A-CBT).

“Dr. McGinn is the first clinician who has made me believe that I may be able to learn to use the model in my practice. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow.”

Additional comments from 2020 attendees...

  • “Great energy and enthusiasm even on Zoom!!!”
  • “Dr. McGinn is evidently an expert in CBT and relayed this information in an engaging, clear, and concise way that makes training very accessible.”
  • “I love the structured, sequential, step-wise approach that Lata is introducing us to. It demystifies a lot of the questions/concerns I had in practicum. I feel much more assured going into therapy knowing that I have these excellent resources to rely on.”
  • “I will be better able to help a client identify thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a more
productive way (meaning, in a way that will lead the client to make lasting change). Previously, I sought to help the client identify thoughts, feelings, behaviors but it didn't feel as successful or productive.”
  • “I feel as though I have a much clearer sense of how to structure and implement training of how to engage in behavioral activation, learn communication and social skills, and problem solving.”
  • “Covering so many skills in one day with such clarity, specificity, so that it didn't get boring or
repetitive. I really liked the PowerPoint slides, really easy to follow.”
  • “This training was phenomenal. My knowledge of CBT theory and techniques has significantly
increased. Although I have some previous training in CBT this workshop clarified the theory and techniques for me. I look forward to building my skills in CBT.”
