Specialized Group
DBT Sibling Support Group

At CBC’s Clinical and Wellness Centers we are committed to providing compassionate evidence – based treatment programs to address a wide range of emotional, behavioral, lifestyle management and personal development issues.

Our therapists practice leading edge treatments based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), with our primary goal to create positive and enduring change for all of our clients.

The DBT Sibling Support Group is designed to help and support the siblings of adolescents who are currently enrolled or previously participated in DBT treatment. We acknowledge that living with and loving someone who has difficulty controlling their emotions can be difficult and we are happy to extend support to siblings who could benefit from understanding more about these difficulties and the skills we teach to address them.

The Sibling Support Group is a weekly meeting offering siblings (ages 12-18) an opportunity to learn the theories, assumptions, and skills integral to DBT treatment.

Meetings will be balanced between formal skills training and support and peer discussions to address the unique needs this population may face. The weekly topics targeted in these sessions will include:

Emotion Regulation Middle Path Skills
Mindfulness Skills Interpersonal Effectiveness
Distress Tolerance Radical Acceptance
